Digital and social media for military museums

Your collection, seen every week.

I visit once a month to photograph and record your objects, then deliver a full month of social posts and online object listings. Written by a historian who grew up in the military and has spent his career in digital marketing.

Great collections. Quiet feeds.

I’ve been a museum trustee, so I know how this goes. The collection is extraordinary, but social media falls to one willing volunteer and stalls when they’re busy. Objects in store never make it online. And the museum down the road, with the same anniversaries and the same audience, never gets a mention.

How it works

One visit. One month of content. Repeated.

01

Visit day

I photograph 20–30 objects, film short handling clips and record your curator’s stories behind each one.

02

Object listings

Each object written up accurately for your website, so people searching for a regiment, a medal or an ancestor find you.

03

A month of social

3–4 posts a week, tied to battle anniversaries, regimental days and Remembrance. You approve the calendar before anything goes live.

More than a marketing officer could give you.

A specialist for less than a part-time hire, with no contract, no recruitment and no gap when someone leaves. And because I work with several military museums, you get something no in-house role can offer.

Joint campaigns. Regiments that fought side by side, promoted side by side, each museum showing its own objects.

New audiences. Family historians, teachers, re-enactors, writers and communities whose service is too often left out.

Captions you can trust. I know a pattern 1897 sword from a pattern 1908, and why it matters to the people who’ll comment.

Evidence for funders. Monthly reports on reach and audience, ready for your next grant application.

Historian. Swordsman. Digital marketer.

I grew up in the military, so regimental life, kit and stories were part of my everyday world long before they became my research. I’ve since served as a museum trustee, published in Medieval World Magazine and Tudor Times, and given talks and handling sessions at English Heritage sites and universities.

Alongside the history, I’ve spent my career in digital marketing and run my own agency, writing content for clients in heavily regulated sectors where every word has to be right. I’m also the author of Affiliate Marketing Programmes for Business Owners. This service is where the two halves of my work meet.
