I’m Jason Hulott: a published historian and practising swordsman with nearly 30 years of training across European and Japanese traditions. I give talks that bring the past into the room, and I help screen, games and publishing teams get their fights right.

Historical combat consultancy
Armed and hand-to-hand combat for TV, film, games and authors, from the medieval fight books to the trenches of the First World War. Script reviews, actor coaching, motion-capture reference and manuscript notes, or onsite, in the room, with steel in hand.

Historian by research. Swordsman by practice.
Most historians read about swords. Most swordsmen don’t read the sources. I do both, and my published research is tested against what actually works with a weapon in hand.
